Secondary methods of assurance (TTP, etc) do not change the picture sufficiently to warrant a distinction in the points or subroot system. Whether the Assurance process of the CA is direct or "Web of Trust" depends somewhat on definitions. This criteria possibly assumes that the term "Web of Trust" and direct alternates are possible exclusives. In practice CAcert uses a hybrid scheme which uses elements of "Web of Trust" to supplement direct methods. As the methods involve face-to-face meetings and document verification by RAs who are themselves contracted, verified and tested, these are direct. Anyone can become an Assurer. This is like "Web of Trust".
